Ask for a balanced explanation
Pain, swelling and tenderness have been reported in Aqualyx research. A small study cannot tell you the frequency of every possible complication or establish that a different procedure is safe for you. No cosmetic injection should be described here as universally painless, risk-free or guaranteed to have no downtime.
Ask the practitioner to distinguish expected effects from complications, explain how your own circumstances affect risk and describe what support is available if recovery does not follow the plan. A reassuring adjective is less useful than an understandable explanation and a clear contact route.

Serious harms need to be discussed too
The US FDA has reported serious problems with unapproved fat-dissolving injections, including infection, scarring, skin changes and persistent painful lumps. This warning covers a category of products and circumstances; it is not a measured complication rate for Aqualyx Leeds. It is a reason to take product identity and practitioner competence seriously.
Do not buy an injectable product to use yourself. Correct product selection, anatomical assessment and administration are clinical responsibilities. A lower advertised price or a familiar brand name does not remove the need for those checks.

Check the actual product and proposed use
The current manufacturer webpage for Aqualyx Cosmetic says topical application only. That cannot be used as authorisation for injection. VIVO confirms use of genuine injectable product at Leeds. This website makes no claim that the topical webpage establishes the injectable product’s regulatory status, instructions or permitted treatment areas.
Do not treat the words FDA approved, CE marked or medically proven as interchangeable. Approval or evidence for one product, route or body site does not automatically transfer to another. This website does not claim FDA approval for Aqualyx.

Know who is responsible for your care
Ask who will assess you, who would perform the procedure and who handles a concern afterwards. Check relevant training, professional registration where applicable and insurance for the actual procedure. NHS guidance recommends consulting the person who will carry out the procedure and understanding their experience and aftercare arrangements.
Ask the clinic about the experience and qualifications of the practitioner who would treat you. Editorial photography and reviews about other treatments do not establish individual clinical competence.

If you are worried after treatment
Use the clinical support instructions given at your appointment. Seek urgent GP or NHS 111 advice for painful, hot, swollen skin or a worsening change that makes you concerned about infection. An online description cannot diagnose the cause.
Call 999 for symptoms suggesting a severe allergic reaction, such as sudden throat or tongue swelling or difficulty breathing. Do not delay urgent help while waiting for an aesthetic clinic's message reply.

A safe decision includes the option to wait
If the product explanation, practitioner information, cost or aftercare plan is unclear, ask for clarification before agreeing. The appointment should not remove your opportunity to think. You can decide that uncertainty, inconvenience or risk outweighs a possible cosmetic benefit.
Read the suitability and consultation pages alongside this guide. They help you prepare a focused conversation rather than trying to diagnose yourself or select a clinical protocol from a website.
Your questions, answered
Is non-surgical the same as no risk?
No. Injections can have adverse effects and complications. The practitioner must explain the risks relevant to the proposed product, area and your circumstances.
Is Aqualyx FDA approved?
This website makes no such claim. US approval of a different deoxycholic-acid product does not authorise Aqualyx or prove UK suitability.
Can a consent form replace a discussion of risks?
No. Ask for an explanation you understand, with time for questions. Signing paperwork does not answer unresolved questions about the proposed treatment.
